Got onto the salt yesterday

It’s been hard for me get out at all but I made it out for the afternoon and evening yesterday with my dad and brother. Took the Whaler to a spot on the edge of the Horse Shoe Dennis calls The Sheepshead Hole and it certainly delivered. Once we got some chum going it was a 2 to 5 lb goat on every drop. Hard fighters for first ten feet while they try to rock you. Great eaters too. They were destroying frozen shrimp and squid.

As dusk approached we deployed our lobster nets and found a decent crawl. Not epic but a few keepers and lots of shorts on each set. Pop hurt his hand and dennis has a torn rotator cuff so I had to do all the pulling. After four sets I was pretty much done but I did what most of you would have done and made one more set
The last set produced the biggest of our 15 total keepers, which made getting home at 2 Am wet and exhausted worth it.

Caught the fish on the shoe. The lobster came from one of our secret spots in the harbor. The horse shoe is plugged with commercial pots and I’ve never done well hooping there.

They do travel in single file lines when migrating between deep and shallow water with seasonal changes. Like ants and elephants lol.

BTW, for any of you hunters who would like to try lobstering I have an offer for you. If you can put me on a bobcat before the end of year closure, I’ll take you hooping and you can have the first seven keepers we pull in. I have the boat, gear , bait. You just need a fishing license and report card.

But to hold up your end of the deal, you better know what your doing and where we’re going because on my end, I intend to put you on some serious roaches.
