Hunting Bullets

If you had to pick one hunting bullets for the rest of your life what would you pick?

I would have to go with the the Barnes TTSX. They just always work. There is something about knowing that if I put it where it’s needs to be it will do what it needs to do.

For CA legal the Barnes TTSX are my preferred bullets for .243-.30 cal. Wish they made a heavier bullet than 180 gr for .30 cal. I use Hammer Hunter 214 gr for 30 Nosler loads. Tested the load on a boar at 200+ yds. Wham- Bang, meat in the freezer.

They have the 190 & 200 gr LRX bullets and rumor has it that they are making a 208 gr version.

I am currently on a hammer train, killed a bull DRT at 100 yards and a cow elk at 650. I like that they shed the nose into 4 petals.

I was involved in 5 hammer kills this year 2 pigs 3 deer. The verdict is still out but they definitely pack a punch and are incredibly accurate. I have used the 127LRX for probably at least 10 kills the bullet with the ivories is 127 LRX I keep it in the same category as the TTSX.

Accuracy is nuts on them and extra velocity is great too. Basically I am able to shoot 181gr hammer 200 FPS faster than the 190 lrx with same BC and better accuracy.

But when that 700 lb bull hit the deck instantly after I pulled the trigger on a high shoulder shot, it sold me. Lol

The TTSX just seems to work every time. Admittedly it’s the only thing I’ve used since I switched to copper. I’d be interested to see how the federal stuff works. That green tip looks like a straight Barnes copy and that’s my understanding of what they did. But I’d also like to hear peoples experience with the power shok copper line.

I’ve only shot a couple of critters but the Accubond seems pretty versatile, I know my bull didn’t stand up after I put one in his shoulder, I would have preferred if it hadn’t sent him tumbling towards a cliff though.

I used winchester 150 gr silver tips for years. And never failed me. But I am new to the copper game. I have a couple of boxes of the trophy copper power shock but have not used them as of this post.

when I was young I was naïve of the BC and and density, I figured a smaller bullet goes faster. now I am aware a 150 gr, may not be as accurate as a 180 gr bullet.
but in the realm of things it worked for me many years. and that's what counts. it was accurate enough.

129gr Barnes LRX. Made the switch to copper a few years ago and was skeptical...but have been converted to a believer. On top of that, IMO...it's only a matter of time before other states adopt the copper only stance.
