Hey all,
I am new to this forum, but have found a lot of great info! My friend is a member, so we are planning to go out in the next couple of weeks. I saw some old posts with some great info, but wanted to see if there is any updated intel from this year. I have done a decent amount of duck hunting, but would not say I am very experienced. I have hunted there once back in 2016 right after the rain, so the lake was very high. I hunted on the east side (near Monkey Islands, i think) so we were able to hide in the reeds pretty well. My understanding is that the lake is much lower now, so I assume this will not be an option. They say there are a lot of ducks there this year, but the folks that run it don't know much about duck hunting.
We have some green wing teal decoys and some widgeon. I also plan to buy a teal or widgeon Mojo, as those seem to be productive. Any other decoy tips. How many? What kind?
My buddy does a lot of turkey hunting, so I was thinking we could use one of those pop-up blinds, rather than layout blinds. Any thoughts?
Any recommendations on where to hunt? Ive heard near the dam is good?
I really appreciate it.
