Curious what bullets the 7mm rem mag shooters (arguably the most handsome and intelligent men in the whole state) are hunting with this year.

I used the federal trophy copper 150 grain last year, and I can get moa groups, but not as consistently as my previous lead hunting rounds (Winchester deer season XP, cheap as dirt and .5 moa, gun just loves em for some reason).

1:8 and I’ve ran them with a 8.7 but yeah anything 9 or slower is gonna struggle. In a previous barrel I ran them with a 1:9 but they didn’t do well last 600 yards.

How long is your barrel? I’ve seen them do fine out to say 5-600 with the slower twist and then go all over the place after that. If you crunch the numbers the bullet probably can’t perform reliably farther than that anyway.

Barrel is 26".

I don't think I'd hunt much past 600 anyways, I'd be worried about reliable expansion at those ranges but I do like long range shooting and I practice with the same rounds I hunt with.

I'd say good enough this close to hunting season. Even if the bullet impacts further from your aim point than you like, it will still pound em. I've never shot any local deer with anything bigger than a 270 or 6.5 and the deer hardly make it anywhere.

Oh I'm not changing my loads this close to hunting season, just curious about what other folks are using. I'll play around this winter with the hammer 155s and probably lrx 162's, but I'm a bit worried about the lrx with the 9.5 twist. Would really like to get back to .5 moa at all my hunting distances.

Oh well. Might just have to build a .22 creed for the local stuff and call it a day.
