Lost License?

A friend went to get his Ca. hunting License , but had lost the last one he had, so he had no proof of ever having one. How can he go about getting this resolved? Does DFG have record of him ever having hunting license?

How recent had he purchased one?...If it is since they went to the computerized system...He will only have to show an ID.

ps...A good reason to keep at least one old license.

I think his last one was at least 10 years ago. I have old license from, Az. Wis, NM, Indiana and Ca. Some are 12 years old. I keep them in gun safe. The safe I store the weapons I borrow from friends, since I don't own any.
