MO White Tail Down

No feeders, no hormones, just Ozark View attachment 65894deer on family property. Ruger American 308, Sig Sauer elite 150 grain copper at 138 yards. A little high but got lungs and quick death
I made it home and was put to shame by some of the great details in other posts so adding some flavor! It was the third day of hunting, unseasonably warm and windy as all get out (25 mph+ gusts), some of it blowing the wrong direction. I only had a few days and you can’t control the weather so I went for it. I sat for about 3.5 hours and climbed down for a piss break. As soon as I got back to the stand and sat down, this guy busted out of the woods across the field and I gave him a quick bleet sound which stopped him long enough to shoot. I honestly thought I missed because he ran lightning fast into the brush. I decided to wait 30 minutes and then climbed down and walked to where I shot him. I then slowly followed the direction he ran, with my rifle ready. Beyond the thin strip of brush was another field and as soon as I cleared the brush I saw him dead. His eyes were already starting to dry so that told me he was dead immediately and had been laying there the 30 minutes I waited. I was very thankful! I have a box of my favorite shells I’ve been carrying with a goal of 20 one-shot kills, this deer was #6 from the box. I take ethics seriously but that little contest with myself makes me take that extra bit of effort to ensure a clean shot.
