My son got a red rider bb gun for Christmas. He told me the other day he wanted to make it camouflage. Since he wanted to paint it I figured it would be good to cut the stock down to get the correct length of pull. We chopped the stock and I let him do the sponge camo on it. I laid down the tan base coat and he did all the sponge work. He was very excited to see the results

We buit my son another setup. This time it was a real rifle. I built him a Zeus with Quick change barrel option and a MPA chassis with short lop buttstock. This is a bit over the top for a 7yo but I did it for 2 reasons. Number 1 he has a rifle he can grow in to a use for anything for the rest of his life. Number 2, he can use any of my barrels for his needs. He is currently shooting it with .223. I will probably throw my dasher barrel on it for his first deer hunt. And he had to put his @TRICER sticker on the magazine

Jeff, Nice build, I need your help with some things, I have started a 257 Weatherby precision build and need help with the components and reloading gear accumulation of equipment . Also you must know that you are inducing an incurable illness into your offspring and that it will follow you throughout yours and his life....

What’s the lop on this rifle. I’ve been looking for a shorter stock for my 6yr son. He’s on the smaller side so it’s been hard trying to find something that fits him. And I’ve been wanting to build one for him.

I would like to build a similar setup. He’s shooting .22 right now and a damn good shot but not setup for him and the option to switch out barrels for different calibers would be nice. That way the gun could grow with him

The LOP is 11" with the MPA chassis and short LOP buttstock. He should really be closer to 9.5-10". It's a little long for him prone but it works. I looked at a few chassis options that use AR style buttstocks that you can get even shorter like the XLR. And the XLR is much cheaper.

I also custom molded a pistol grip to get his trigger finger on the proper position. He likes the 22 but loves the 223.

I definitely spent way too much for a rifle for a 7yo but as I stated above he can use this for anything from hunting to competition for the rest of his life. You can swap barrels on a Tikka and buy prefit barrels too. The Tikka is a little cheaper and has the same aftermarket support. But you need an action wrench and barrel vice to swap barrels. A Tikka would probably take 30 minutes to swap. My sons takes 60 seconds.

Yeah, my son is on the smaller side. Even the small wildcat 22 doesn’t fit him so I was looking at AR style stocks to make it fit.
