New AR laws?

so with all the stupid crap that passed a few months ago I'm so confused. I'm really interested in the magazine/bullet button law. Any one know for sure when it's supposed to go into effect? I've searched but not much in the way of exact dates or years.

Also those of you that have Armalite style modern sporting rifles what are you planning? The new bullet button? Or...,

The only options seem to be the new mag lock, convert to featureless or AW registration.

As for myself im not sure what I will do. I might try the festureless. I might AW register. Not sure because I'm hoping to leave this state soon.

We have until Jan 1, 2018 to register our "assault weapons" or otherwise remove the evil features. With regard to your mag/BB question, I believe that if we register a AW, we would be able to reinstall a regular mag release instead of the BB because it'll be considered an AW anyway. But I've heard from some folks that the powers-that-be may try to nix that soon also...
 
Install a 22LR bolt and you can have all the "evil features" and regular mag release. The new ar laws don't include rim fire. I am personally going to install frs-15 stock and remove forward grip, install bipod and I have a comp not a flash hider so I'm good there. After I install that I can go back to a regular mag release.

Also featureless also allows you to use the rifle the way it was intned. no bullet button

Reviving this thread in light of impending Gunmageddon doom... so I decided not to register and instead go featureless. All I need to do is swap out my flash hider for a true muzzle brake and I might try the kydex grip wrap (which sucks). Question is, with featureless, can I really run a regular (non Bullet Button) mag release? A LEO family member told me otherwise, but I called BS on him and so now I'm unsure of myself.

as always talk to an attorney!!! but yes that is the general understanding.
a featureless AR or similar is not an assault weapon if it has no features and therefore can have a regular mag release.

I was sent a thordsen stock a year or so ago to try out. it is a nice thing. its light and works well. combined with no front grip and a brake and it makes a featureless build. its pretty ugly but actually works well also a little costly at 100+ per gun. I have already pre ordered a few for my other guns.

Thanks. Yea I've seen that stock, it looks like a good solution but was trying to avoid spending $$ on it. Maybe later on down the road I'll go that direction.
 
OK so Cal Doj just released their interpretation of how they are going to register yesterday. it's bad really bad. But before we all jump let's let the smart folks hash it out and see what they think.

Here are some highlights,
Bullet button guns need to stay bullet button guns

Registration will require photos of the completed rifle

It's going to be 15$

The registration will be online with scanned docs up the ass to tie you to it

Any and all 80% lowers will need a Doj sn even if you put one on it.

yea im not into registering it. ill make it a 22lr or a bolt gun first or totally disassemble it before i register it. its going to be a pain in the a... ive always got stripped lowers or 80% ers so none of mine are registered as anything at this point but non complete stripped lowers. atleast we will still be able to buy stripped and 80%ers for now.

I do agree the thordson stocks are on the expensive side but if you look at the total money into an ar or any hunting rifle or a hunting trip its not that bad. lots of options for making a featurless build some good and some not so good and some ive seen are down right unsafe. pretty soon it will be cheaper just to pick up our lives and move out of state like so many other people.

But there is still the option of the new mag release. The mag release that you have to open the upper to release the mag. A pain and I think it may wear out the rear take down pin eventually. But is is cheaper and you can keep your other features.

Very confusing. So bullet button is out, so is folding of telescoping stock. . such bunch of BS. So if it totally stripped of accessories. No hand grip. Threaded barrel for flash suppressor. What else?
 
They just want you t register so they know who has what. Then banned them completely
Once you Register your on the map. So for me I have nothing
