Well, after having my favorite spinning (Senko) rod broke last week...I went down to Turner's and tried to find a stick that was similar...Nothing felt that good, but I did settle for a rather cheap Daiwa ($39.95) that had a lighter tip and strong backbone.
So, with new rod in hand, I hit The Hodg yesterday...This rod certainly feels different (reel seat & longer handle), but when I got that 1st bump...It performed beautifully...Strong and was able to get a 2 1/2 lber through the sticks...Next was a little more challenging, because the size of the fish...Super soft bite, but it was felt...When I set on her, she bulldogged me towards the only sticks around...Was able to control her and eventually finally landed her...Solid 5 lber...I eventually caught one more fish and it was on a long cast...No problem feeling this bite either...2 lber.
Overall, I was pretty happy with the rod, but will continue to try and find my beloved 6' 3" Shimano Crucial...lol
