Morning all, I am new to the forum and though I am a non-resident from the Phoenix valley area, my family and I are not new to California. With my recent retirement from law enforcement and my renewed love of returning to everything outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting is defining my way of life. I grew up on the east coast where I enjoyed salt water fishing and whitetail deer hunting, which for the most part were very much like the four seasons, always transitioning from one season the next. Though moving to the valley of the sun, access to the mountains and yes California has always been our retreat, where my family and I would not only enjoy your beaches and surf but also access to some of the best parks in the Nation. Over the past few years hunting and salt water fishing has been my passion, where I've learned to build my own fishing rods and taking yearly fishing trips on both the Pacific Queen and Pacific Voyager. Hunting has been new and for the most part a huge motivator in my own physical conditioning and mental preparation, where I have renewed my passion for elk, deer and most recently turkey hunting. It is here that brought me to SCH, on the numerous trips from Arizona to San Diego, I could not wonder the great hunting opportunities the Cleveland National Forest had and with my turkey hunting addiction, it didn't take long for me to find opportunities while now retired in California. It is my hope while on this site to gain knowledge and yes new friends, being respectful to all but also a steward as your guest in this awesome state.
