All,
You may be aware that my wife Lauren and I are foster parents and will soon be adoptive parents, along with being parents of our own four kids. We began our foster journey almost three years ago when we brought a two-day-old baby boy home from the hospital and into our family of six, now seven including baby Dylan. What we didn’t know was how taxing and difficult foster care was going to be on our family. At the time, we felt like we could handle anything, but foster care soon had us feeling like we were drowning. Around month six, when we were really questioning our decision to become foster parents, a new charity was founded. That new charity, Restoration 225, asked us to be the first family they supported. R225 changed our lives and without their support, I believe we wouldn’t have been able to succeed as a foster family. R225 changed the lives of me and my family so much so that I now sit on their board of directors and will forever be an advocate for them.
What is Restoration 225?
Restoration 225 is a San Diego based Charity that comes alongside local foster, adoptive, and kinship families to support them in whatever needs they have. Each family gets a care community of between 4-6 volunteers to help them. Every case is different and every family has different needs. Some of those needs include but are not limited to at least one family dinner provided weekly, as well as help with laundry, house cleaning, childcare, tutoring, driving kids to sporting events, or just being available for a phone call for the parents emotional support. The list goes on and on. To date we have put care communities around 339 families, impacting the lives of 730 children in San Diego.
In my personal experience, each week we had two one-hour visits with our foster son’s biological mother and at least three other appointments with doctors, social workers, or lawyers. Foster care was a full-time job, and our four bio kids were suffering because of the time and attention it was taking from them. R225 came alongside of us and brought us dinner either homemade or through a delivery service every Thursday. They even took care of our bio kids for us whenever we had a foster related visit or appointment, so we didn’t have to leave them home alone for hours on end. Not only did they take care of our kids, but they took them to great places like parks, trampoline centers, fishing, etc. Even more than all of this help, just knowing that we were no longer alone in this process changed our lives.
So, with all that said, we are hosting our first Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Riverwalk Golf Course and we would be honored by your support. All donations are tax deductible. Below are the different ways you can help.

Please Help Us Find Donations for our Tournament Prizes!
Along with a fun day on the course, all of our golf participants have the opportunity to win prizes based on their performance and also buy raffle tickets for a chance to win other prizes. We’re looking for donations to help us make these prizes unforgettable. Some examples of prizes we’re looking for: Weekend Getaways, Tickets for Sporting Events, Concert Tickets, New Set of Golf Clubs, Relaxing Day at the Spa, Free Golf Lessons, etc. If you are able to provide one of these prizes or connect us with a business or individual that would be interested in donating, please let us know as soon as possible. Please, email Frances McHugh at [email protected] for more information and to coordinate your generous donations.
Sincerely yours,
Drew and The Miles Family
