Hello Guys,
A friend of mine asked me to help him with a cottontail infestation, they 're eating all his grappes, But when I told him it wasn"t the season he said that it was a private land.
Any thought ?

just wait till the season opens up in July.

It actually says somewhere that game belongs to the public, rather than to the owner of the land it lives on (unless you bred and raised the animal). So private land is not a free pass to do what you want.

However, there is also a reasonable expectation that a farmer, and possibly homeowner, can defend their crops/plants/land. I think farmers are actually allowed to do what they want - shoot deer, turkeys, etc that are damaging their crops, without a license. Homeowners can apply for a depredation permit, to exterminate wildlife that are destroying their plants. Though DFQ tends to concern themselves with larger game.

Best advice......................Rabbit fence till then.

where is the vineyard at? maybe the pros at SCH can come help you with your problem ;)

thank you guys for the prompt answer. I told the owner that I will wait to July. He left a few bait for coyotes so they can chase the rabbits away.
I will report later in July if the problem persist. I'm sure some of you wouldn't mind bring some home.

Hmmm... Coyote bait too? If you play your cards right, this could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
;)
