Where was that road kill. I had a friend that had a big ranch on Mesa Grande and he had a huge buck that was killed on his ranch. Mounted on his wall He had a bat that was Tony Gwynns and it just barely fit between the horns. His father told him that back in the early 50’s that deer were transplanted from some where to here in SD. Also Elk in the La Gunas, and it was rumored that another friend of mine shot the last one to have some thing to eat. I’m talking in the early 50s

The story goes that bucks from the Kaibab were brought into San Diego Co. at about the same time deer from the Kaibab were brought to Santa Cruz Islands....The Areas were Rancho Guejito and Cuyamaca...I've seen some pretty good bucks taken in the Guejito. (1st pic), near Cuyamaca (2nd pic), and Mesa Grande (3rd pic)....... :blush:

ps...The buck was killed somewhere along Hwy 67............;)
