Decided to let my oldest play hooky from school and get out on his 1st duck hunt (as an observer.) Got to the check-in station and baptized him with the stress of the sweatline. Ended up drawing #29 after everything was said and done with little hope of first light shooting, but we were able to get on at D1. Ended up getting my very 1st redhead right at shooting light and decoyed a bufflehead a little later (also my 1st one.) Missed a couple good opportunities at some pintail and teal, but took home a coot for the dog. He loved setting the decoys, positioning the Mojo when the wind switched on us and being able to see ducks fly and do there ducky thing. He definitely caught the bug and can’t wait till next year when he gets his license to get a crack at some ducks. Knocked off a couple new species and made some lifelong memories that I will cherish forever. Duck hunting is the best.
