Looks like there is always something to talk about at your house Steve! But the thing that stands out the most to me is the kelp hog. What did he weigh?

The night I caught it weighed 14-1 lbs (certified meat market scale in Belmont Shore, LB)........But as your probably aware, Calico bass had no designation in the IGFA books in 1972......So, we didn't think that much of it other than it was the biggest calico we had ever caught off the LB Breakwater (I had already caught a 12-3)......The fish was caught at 10:00 pm.....The next day after showing it to all the wall regulars. Someone said I should take it to the Long Beach F & G office and have it weighed.......I did at 4:30 pm the following day. It weighed 13-4 on their certified scale. Never thought much of it till they made calicos a IGFA official fish.......Because it has to be put in on the open line class now. It doesn't make the world record because there was 13-9 caught off of Newport in the 90's.

Amazing fish Steve...but what stands out to me were two things - The Spec and of course the awesome band necklace/lanyard. You have an impressive collection of waterfowl bands. This reveals two facts:

Fact one - you spend a tremendous amount of time in a waterfowl blind (and/or firing line)

Fact two - you hunted waterfowl a lot in the 1970's, 1980's and very early 1990's

Nonetheless, your home is a place I would truly enjoy to hang out in.

Waterfowl, waterfowl and more waterfowl... 8)

Steve, I look at your pics and I see years and years of amazing stories. I can only hope that I will have that many great memories in my house one day. Thanks for sharing.
