Forgot to post this up.. Bear skull is finished, should I bleach it, or leave it "natural"?

Looks great. Bleached skulls look great, but nothing wrong with natural. If you haven't de-greased it, be careful what surface you put it on. It took forever to de-grease my hog skull. I hear bears are just as greasy.

Degrease it and whiten it.

Once finished I did let it sit in hot soapy water, then scrubbed it pretty good. So I think it is depressed pretty well.

My hog skull took forever to degrease, and I used alot more than soapy water. The issue was it kept coming back, I would think it was done then the yellow spots would ooze more...

Dang that's odd, my bear doesn't seem to be doing that at all, I'm going to look over it closer when I get home. This was not a very old bear though, so I wonder if the age makes a difference?

Just in case anyone missed the skull with all the skin on..

Very cool. From my experience there is nothing that correlates with how much grease a skull has... species, age, size, process... What I do know that it takes a lot of work and different methods to get all the grease out of the greasy ones. Some will never be completely degreased. Big hogs seem to be the worst. Good job.... hog skulls need the lower jaw to be drilled on either side to let the grease escape the inner jaw, don't know if a Bear is the same.
