I knew with a good sunny day after days of rain....The squirrels would be stretching their little legs....The Ruger American .17 seems to be as accurate as any rifle I've owned....Also, saw a number of gobblers, but not seeing many jakes (bad sign)….Separated gobbler groups also means the big & strongest gobblers are taking over hen flocks (48 hens with 2 longs)….Then saw 10 longs together without a single hen.

Oh hey! I like how that stock has a nice high comb to it! <Checks Ruger's site> Hmmph, I didn't know they had models with a stock like that. Cool!

'Dog,

It's one of the things I like about this model....Plus, the grip is thicker....Like I stated before, just beefier....

The clip is much smoother too....Holds 9, plus one in the chamber.

Great pics steve way to get out there before the next rain storm.

Matt,

I'll take all the rain we can get....Ponds that were dry a couple of weeks ago are brim full now....They'll be going over the top after Friday.

Good shooting there Steve.

Yeah the mag on my Savage 93 .17HMR is a little sloppy. Sometimes has issues stripping and feeding the next round smoothly. I think it only holds 7 too.

Sloppy!? Huh? It slides onto that vertical piece of flattened steel on the rearward side of the mag. 7? Hrmm... mine holds 5. Wonder if mine is a re-tooled version? It's worked flawlessly. Nice and tight, much like how my lil CZ 452 22LR I bought for the buy works. Nice and tight.

Do you happen to have like an abnormally high number of rounds fired thru your Savage 93 .17 HMR or something? Admittedly I don't have a lot of rounds thru my 93 yet. Only like maybe... 200 or 250. Don't need to fire much thru it, it never misses!

So sometimes it's about quality control. Some may be a little more sloppy but functional.
Basic low entry rifles.
Sometimes it may be a little flaw in the design. Sometimes bean counters will make engineers change stuff because it's cheaper
to manufacture, but not necessarily better. You know process improvement.
I like old school were it was designed right even thou let cost a little more.

My Savage 93, HMR .17 clips hold 5....I did buy an after market clip that holds 10.....The spring on my original clip broke....Like mentioned....A rather poor design.

I've probably put less than that through mine so maybe it's still breaking in. The issue is occasional so it's not really a big deal. But it shoots like a laser so that's all that matters to me.

X2

The magazine is clearly where Savage scrimps for cost. But all four of mine are lasers.,, If I go easy on the coffee

I must of got lucky with my Savage edge 243. I had no issues as of yet.
I need to do something about the
Trigger 5 lb pull makes me pull to the right
A little, any suggestions.
After market spring?

Lee,

I did not buy an after market trigger or spring for Stefanie's Savage Axis .243....I cut the existing spring with wire cutters a little at a time till I got the pull I wanted....Go on You Tube....Pretty good video on how to do it.....Here's the video.
