then it will be "... dogs have more rights than people. free health care and food for all." not so sure they will mandate exercise; that could start a revolt.

If I owned a dog I would say if it has these rights then it should have all the rights we do. Therefore, my dog can speak his mind & start buying guns. Background check anyone?

Not this dude..he's a killer..

Good luck with defining the parameters of that law and enforcing it, California is full of legislative kooks with no clue. Can you imagine how the local animal control enforcment folks would deal with this edict ? ("Hello sir/ madam we have a report that your pet is not being taken care of according to bill number #1881 law and we need to enter your home without a search warrant and determine under undefined rules that you are abusing you pet") I'm guessing most animal control officers would throw their arms in the air when told to enforce this and ignore it as unenforceable.

Also to be known, this member of the legislature was elected to an area of central Los Angeles county that has no connection to the world out side of streets and intersections and properties with no place's outside of parks or communal spaces. I am going to explore his education and accrediations further to understand his motive but I would guess at this moment he just does not have enough of a clue as to why people own pets and how each person owns a pet and what it does for them emotionally and how much a pet means to that individual that does so and takes care of their pet the best they can to regardless of the financial status they have. Imagine this- someone like this guy starts to define the confines of what you are required to have in order to own a pet and what your are allowed to feed it and how much time you must spend with it when you have to work for a living. What's next ? pet permits and inspections ? Folks this is going beyond simple removed hunting pursuits and being folks like us. It's informing on our neighbors who are just pet owners and how they could become affected as well as animal rights activists being empowered to call LE upon their complaint to investigate just because they don't like us or how we take care of our pet. I love my pets and understand them on many levels from emotional to scientific and all of it counts in my opinion. This is a stupid uninformed bill all about emotion with with no science involved in it's formation.

CA (and many other authoritarian states) would LOVE for you to begin informing on your neighbor. Working for the sheriff and seeing the sheer amount of calls we got on neighbors after the January 6th protest was insane. They LOVE that kind of stuff because then they don’t have to enforce stuff since people begin to live in fear that any time they do something that their neighbors don’t like, the cops will show up.

I do feel for a dog if I see some high-powered hunting dog like a GSP or Weimer owned by some suburban family. Knowing they will never take it hunting.

No reason to legislate, just throwing that out there.

Like these 2...they just look guilty ... malnourished and abused...they better get there shit together ...or else!!!
