Well, all good things must come to an end, but what a run we had....The lake is now only about a foot deep on the outside of the trees and still dropping fast...So, bass have moved away from most the edges...As many of you know, there's almost no structure in the lake once it starts getting this low...Doesn't mean you still might not be able to catch fish, but the classic flipping and pitching bite will be gone.......

A few pix from the last couple of weeks....Barrett had nothing on this year...................

Toads! Would you say this was the best spring and summer bass fishing Henshaw has ever cranked out?

Kevin,

Probably in my lifetime (since 1954)...70-100 fish mornings...We never fished past 11:00 am...Even the last 3 trips with 57, 41, 37 fish were good, and we ended at 10:00 am.................

The quality of the fish was great too...Lots of 3-5 lber's with an occasional 6-8 lber...Oh, and fight!...Friends were using 80 lb braid flipping...They knew how to spin those trees.......:joy:

It really goes to show how the fish (all wildlife) will do when they have great habitat...The lake after the big die off 3 years ago stayed high in the trees for the last 2 years.......;)

ps...I didn't even mention how good the crappie fishing was this spring...And, boy do they eat good...I must have gone thru 5 bags of Uncle Bucks beer batter..................:yum

Steve, based on your reports I was guessing it might have been the best you’ve seen. Wish I could’ve made it out there while it was hot. Hopefully the water level goes up again this winter and isn’t drawn down too early in 2026.
