Shotgun always gives me piece of mind in that thick stuff more than a bow. Snakes dont really bother me, I think because I bank fished around so many cottonmouths in TX to where I just got to where I ignore them, they are usually gone by the time you get to them. I have sat in some spots and counted 10-15 in a 20 foot area with me sunning, just don't want to step on them.
