Turkey on So Cal?

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and somewhat new to turkey hunting. I took my 8yr old turkey hunting for the first season last year after he was adamant to get a bird for xmas. We lived near Fresno and went up to the Sequoia Nation park and Pine Flat lake. We moved this year to Orange County. Other than Disneyland I have never been herw before.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to begin looking. I'm not asking for a sweet spot, just a general area. I have seen the San Diego area cancel their youth hunts because of the drought. Thank you

Gonna be tough this fall for me. I'm thinking numbers are down about 80% in the areas where I hunt and see birds this time of year.. learn to enjoy the time in the woods with your boy without bagging a bird. There is alot you guys can learn together in the woods. Maybe join a local club so could meet turkey hunters in your area. Good luck.

I would say turkeys are down at least 80%......The Lake Sutherland hunts were canceled this fall because of lack of birds (shooting hens this fall won't lay eggs next spring)......There's a youth hunt on the Santa Ysabel East Preserve next March.....Watch either the upland or calendar on SCH for the details.
