Sorry to hear that, Valley fever is no joke. One of the trainers here has a dog that contracted it down near Patagonia a couple of years ago. It took quite awhile to diagnose and the treatment took over a year of heavy duty drugs that can have some pretty bad side effects. Good news is the dog finally pulled through. Best wishes to the Moose man.

Damn Matty,

Poor Moose ...Hope is mends quickly.... :worried:

Just read this.......:scream:

"Because of their susceptibility and popularity as human companions, dogs comprise the majority of animal cases of Valley Fever. Owners spend hundreds to thousands of dollars each year, especially in Arizona, diagnosing, treating, and following up care for their dogs with Valley Fever. It is estimated that valley fever costs all Arizona dog owners at least $60 million per year".

AZ sucks..well..moose sure thinks so anyways...damn.

Crazy... my lab got it earlier this year too; I'm guessing when we were duck hunting local farm ponds. Ours didn't have issues like yours, but we have spent almost as much so far with no end in sight. I first thought he had something stuck in his throat as his cough sounded more like he was trying to clear his throat. It's been a couple of months of the heavy meds and he is just now starting to get some of his energy back.

Good luck to both our dogs!

I have Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Pet insurance is mandatory with these idiots. Our boy has been to the Vet ER twice that I can think of for eating things he shouldn't have. Glad to hear Moose is healing up!

Sorry to hear bud..I grew up with a basset hound and she had to wear the cone of shame at one point as well. They are notorious for eye problems. My girl Ethal had an issue in her eye where eventually they had to remove the internal parts of the eye and replace with a prosthetic. The eye was just cloudy after that. She eventually had further complications and my mom couldn't afford any more medical procedures so she went to live on a farm...I miss that old girl..best damn dog I ever owned.
