Had a nice morning chasing bunnies at a spot that used to produce really well, but in the last couple years has really gone downhill... luckily today was decent. Went 3-for-3 with my .17HMR. I forget what a vicious round it is... head shot 2 of them but body shot the third, which blew it apart nasty (though salvageable). Looking forward to getting these guys in the fryer!

Way to put a few more down. I use the CCI non toxics and those things do some serious damage. Wouldn’t think twice about shooting a coyote with them under 100 yards.

Nice shooting. As soon as it cools down, I look forward to getting out for some bunnies. I always wonder how those Mountain Men made those cool caps out of skunk?? a few years back while driving outside of White Oaks NM, I stopped to pick up what I thought was fresh road kill badger. as soon as I lifted him up, I got a big wif of him and had to throw him and my good gloves into the ditch. got some badger juice on me boots which fouled up me truck...

Haha nice one.. I always thought skunks have real nice fur. Would be cool to skin and tan one.. but I'd be scared to do it lol.

LOL, bummer about gloves. My brother gave me a badger skin it was very cool. 50 years ago. From Mexico.

Stevve,

Once out bow hunting I found a pair sitting at 35 yards. I decided not to shoot. One of the best decisions I have made.

I have killed skunks with gun and bow. The bow is a great way to kill them.
Line up to make sure you get a complete pass through and they don’t know what happened. Never sprayed just kept walking down the trail and fell over dead. C7F18146-CB5A-4E6B-BB61-4A9EB6239CCE.jpeg

I freaking LOVE my .17 HMR !!!

Opening day of rabbit season this year, I had my limit by 6:40am! The year before tried with .22LR but it was difficult because they were either running from one clump of brush to another very close by clump of brush...or... they were exposing themselves at 80+ yds, which starts to get tricky for the .22LR. So I did my research, learned about the .17's having like 125-150yds before appreciable drop starts. Bought one, and some Kwik Stix, and some concealment gear. So this year I go out there, knew exactly where I was gonna sit, and what I was gonna wear. Just sat and weighted for the sun to come up. It was beautiful! Finished so early I tried to do some calling and brought in a Gray Fox! But it wasn't season for them yet so had to pass.

For S & G, I even tried shooting a spent 12 Gauge shotshell I found on the ground out there. 80yds out? No problem.

And whenever I go try to call for yotes at this other completely different location and terrain type, if that doesn't work out I have all kindsa fun popping Ground Squirrels in this Ravine! I'm just starting out, but managed to reach out to 92 yds on the Squirrels so far :)
