What hunts are you doing this year?

Kellen,

I know Arizona is up....Did you or can you put in for multiple zones or you just haven't checked.

I like Montana Steve. I would love to go hunt the south eastern part of the state tons of deer and you can hunt them in December.

I would be interested in a late November / December hunt next year. They have White Tail and Muley's in that region a lot of them overlapping. We should look into it. I would probably fly up.

Steve, they hit cards but results aren't posted yet. At least since I checked a few hours ago. I put in for a few hunts and I know I drew something. I'm sure it's a Coues tag which is just fine by me.

They have some good Bulls up there. I took this one north of Townsend in late November.

Thanks Kellen....I just wondered, because a friend of mine got drawn for his deer there....He must've only put in for that zone that he wanted.

Darryl,

Hell of a bull......Great pic!

Trying to work a "resident" license in CO since I own a place there.

Are you working with someone at CPW on this? They are pretty strict on their residency requirements. When I first moved here I had to buy non resident licenses the first fall season even though I owned a home.

Nick,

Most states it's 6 months residency.

Unless u really live in a state for 6 months I would never try and get a residency. I have a place in Yuma but I would never try and get a residency DFG will bust you. I have heard stories of guys trying it driving around w CA plates, CA drivers license, CA jobs. Long story short it's not to hard for them to tell where you live.

I know of a guy that lives in San Diego and has a place in Yuma. Bought a resident license in both states and got caught. Lost hunting and fishing privileges in 27 states for five years.
NOT WORTH IT

It's not 27 states anymore the "interstate wildlife violator compact" is now enforced by 47 states. If you get busted in one state you lose your rights to hunt in all the others for as long as the judge of the state you violated in sentences you to. It's an awesome program it keeps East coast jerks from coming out west poaching and then going home with no consequences.

I actually hunted with Kyle a few years back at Wister....Not really a bad guy....Family man, Marine, and supported local conservation groups....I think he got caught up in all the hype....Had the feeling he was living on the edge.

Just don't do it.....You will pay dearly, as he will be.

Thanks for sharing this info. I have never researched this before. Good stuff. It looks like it is 48 states now. MA and HI are the only ones not in and MA has started the legislation to be added.

HI is a great example. Basically right now I could fly over there with my bow poach an Axis deer get caught and I wouldn't be allowed to hunt there for 2 years. But really who cares because I can come home and hunt in CA. That is the point of the compact.

Side note I do want to go to HI and bow hunt Axis deer, and mountain goats. Definitely on my bucket list, it is relatively inexpensive to do when it comes to tags. Expensive part is getting over there.

We're looking at land in WY or Mt now. Gonna build a cabin. We do snowmobile trips every year. Gonna extend that to hunting trips too.

I've owned the rental there for 9 years. Not gonna get residency in CO since I'm here in CA. The good thing is since I have a lifetime CA license if I do get residency somewhere else I always have the lifetime CA license. looking at land in WY and MT so eventually will move to one of them. CA lifetime is always valid no matter where you live. Hunting San Juan unit Utah this year on a private land tag since my buddy has 1800 acres private land. Stoked for that!
