Cock bird scratch...see um all the time...lot a cocks where i hunt...

That makes sense, I had heard that mountain lions make scrapes too but the ones you listed are probably more likely.
 
it would have been cool to see something next to it to get a size reference..
it appears to me also as something rooting the ground.. like fox, coyote , skunk
