Hello gentleman, I went to San Jacinto for my first official dove opener and got one bird. It was very slow, but I did have a few missed opportunities.

I'd like to try one more time before the 15th, but at Imperial Valley. The DFW's map has quite a few fields, but I'd ike to see if you wouldn't mind guiding me to a field that is more productive. I know the dove might be a bit skittish now, would still like to give it go. General idea would work as well. I added these maps I found online for reference.

Thanks

I've always had luck in the "U" fields. If the action gets slow, just walk the access roads, and you'll jump some.

The IV has been pounded with rain this past week...Not trying to type you out of going, but it will be tough...A little drop in temps to will make it nicer, if you find some...Personally, I'd head east and south of Niland, Calipatria, and Brawley....Drive till you see them...Wheat is what's mostly grown in the Heritage fields (when planted)...Wister grew wheat and sunflowers as well.

Good luck

Would those fields also be open to public or they're OK to hunt so long as they are not posted?

Thanks by the way.

Two words - Corn Stubble. Look for a field and they’re most likely in it, especially from south of Calipatria to the border. If there are roosting trees near the stubble and you can set up safely and legally, you have a good chance of a very productive shoot. Good luck!
