Finally got out for the first time this year. Scouted a good spot and was able to grab it in the morning. Me and pops ended up with 6 gads, 2 Pins, 1 Widgeon, 5 Spoons and a goose. Done by 12:00.

Guys at the check station said it was really slow and that most guys were coming in with 1-2 birds. Didn’t surprise me cause I really didn’t hear much shooting around us and some guys I spoke with who were hunting a great spot had just 1 bird and said it was dead. Looks like we just lucked out. Good day.

That’s a pile of birds, I’m hoping for one of those kinds of days this year!

Nice haul!! Now that deer season is over I would really like to get a chance to go out and try my hand at some waterfowl. Never duck hunted before. Would love to land a duck or goose to cook for xmas. I've been seeing people landing ducks and geese but how do you guys eat them? Haven't seen and cooked bird pics..

I cook mine like a steak.. seared to medium rare in a hot pan, basted with butter and rosemary, and usually make a little sauce to go with. Slice thin. Important thing is to not overcook duck.
