Snakes are out. I hike up a hill in Sabre Springs on my lunch break. Last week, I saw a big king snake. Today this guy was out.

This guy was on the trail back in November.

BTW... I checked into a Fishing license the other day for the boy, was reading thru the regs. (Holy Fvckb@lls the regs are extensive for fishing!!!) Somebody had told me before that you needed a fishing license to take reptiles.

While this is true... I'm happy to read that Rattlesnakes are an explicit exception to that rule!

What happened to "It's too cold for snakes" that I've always heard?

Is it that damn climate change thing again.

Last year at hike=in during the season, was cold like this and drizzly. Saw the tiniest little rattlesnake I've ever seen! Was laying in a water rut along the trail, I think waiting for the morning sun to come along and finally warm him up. He couldn't have been more than 7 inches long! He was adorable.

Like eating turkey neck lol.
An old timer ground it up and heat dried it out. And put in a large salt shaker as a seasoning.
Was not bad. lol

Thats what I said when I saw the hunting regs going from fishing.

They still have a bag limit of 2, enough for a belt with a free a rattle for the kids. Those things will flop around for hours with no head.

Dang Phil.. couple of fatties right there. One day I'd love to get one skinned out and on the back of a longbow. Or maybe curled up in a bottle of whiskey. Or both.

The top one is the more dangerous of the two. I have both Southern Pacific and Diamond Backs on my property. Caught a huge Southern two years back right by my garage. Released him miles away. He got a free pass since he was pretty passive and easy to handle. The ones that get too aggressive, I just shoot. I always use snake gaters when cutting on the property and always during turkey season. Thanks for the heads up.

Now that we are talking snakes, what do you guys wear to protect yourselves? Brand, type, hight?
I wonder if they could bite through my boots.
So far in all my outtings I came across of only one. Actualy, one rattler and one that was dark in color, we were both scared of eachother, I was going down to seat under an oak and was going straight on top of it, when I saw his eyes I jumped and ran!!! LOL when I checked again it wasnt there any more.
I think that I shitted my pants... LOL
