Get your apps in gentleman. The CO draw deadline is tomorrow April 2 8pm MT time. Myself and my oldest are in for a poing Deer, Elk, and Pronghorn. That brings me up to 3 points for all three gonna have to cash those Deer points in in the next couple of years.
Side note it is only $1.25 to get a license for a youth to apply for the draw in CO. So $1.25 plus $9 per species $28.25 and he is stacking points.

It became quite a bit more expensive for non-resident adults recently right?
Depends how you look at it you use to have to front the tag fees now you just have to have a license and pay $9 per species and if you draw then you pay the tag fee. I think the license was like $80

That’s not bad. I don’t know what I’m thinking of. I was listening to some podcast and they made it seem like it was really expensive.

New for this year you do have to purchase a qualifying license in order to apply. This is on top of your application and preference point fees.

It’s a lot less than AZ basically half the price. Only difference is I hunt AZ every year. But you have to pay to play. I am building points in CA, AZ, OR, WY, UT, and CO now. I have a feeling it won’t be hard making friends in a few years lol. I am sure there a lot worse things I could spend my money on.

Yeah I get it. I’ve been reluctant to apply to a bunch of states because I was afraid of how much it costs. But a bunch of the western states aren’t too bad it seems. I already apply in CA and AZ, I applied to UT this year. I’m thinking add NV and CO. And that will be a pretty decent suite of states to rotate though on top of OTC tags.

I think maybe the special species in CO were what they were talking about as far as higher cost. Haven’t had time to look yet but maybe sheep and moose etc are more expensive...

I don’t apply for those only because they are like 20 year tags just to get to like 2-5% draw odds and don’t forget the creep. . I figure I can go to Alaska or BC to hunt moose someday.

Some people hate the weighted system, but for someone like me who is late to start applying for moose, sheep, and goat I still have a chance every year. I am sure odds are worse for non res though.

This is my 4th year applying and therefore my first applicable year. People pull tags with 0 weighted points every year.

My best bull ever came out of Colorado....dont bother with AZ..nothing worth hunting there.. Colorado is where its at!!

I love colorado...some of my best memories growing up were hunting with grandpa out of craig....good luck boys on the draw. Im commited to CA (sadly) during the CO. Season therefore cannot apply. I hate CA.!!

I applied for all species and the huge charge increase came from the sheep, moose and mtn goat pp increase which is 100 per species and they charge you it after you don’t draw. You can opt out of the charge but won’t gain a point and in less you have over 3 points you don’t have a chance anyway.

Ya some states seem to really protect the rare hunts for resident hunters. Utah and AZ are pretty friendly for building points. At some point I want to start applying for sheep in Idaho no points needed and they have a few that give you a chance of drawing.

You can do the same in CO. Desert Bighorns are no points required, but there is a whopping 1 non res tag to the 13 resident opportunities.

Odds suck no matter how you look at it. Also, of you apply desert you cant apply RM that year.
