@Dawnandusk ... if you haven't already tried firing a rifle with one of those AccuTrigger's (or one from another company that rips off of the Savage AccuTrigger design, several do) I'd highly recommend you give one a try before you buy your next rifle! You'll love it!

I have no doubt that accutrigger is a great one, personaly I have not tried it. The trigger on the compass was nice but required about 5 lb of pull, I bought a new spring and lowered it to 2.5. It is as crisp as I want it to be.

I started with a Mossberg 800a 308.
Shi_ plain , simple no frills or thrills
Rifle, old fashion wood stock.
5lb factory trigger. Because I didn't know to change it. Bolt action.
Has killed probably 20 or more deer.. o ya with a peep sight.
Point is what you have will kill deer,
And you have a nice scope lol....;)

Hey Fabian did you buy it online? I've got a buddy looking for a rifle for deer season. Looks like a killer deal! He's looking at a Remington 783 combo.

RE: The 783 Combo. My 783 in .223 *is* very accurate.

But... sometimes it'll want to have issues in terms of pulling the next round off the top of the magazine. Sometimes at the tail end of pulling the bolt back...a round will pop-off the top of the magazine... then... when actuating the bolt forward... it will push a round off the top of the magazine like it's supposed to... then you have 2 rounds in that area. Or... sometimes a round doesn't pop off the top, like it shouldn't... but then when the bolt is coming forward, it might not grab a round off the top. Problems seem to happen more for me when using Nickel-plated cases, vs Brass. I presume since they are slicker.

This guy does a review of this issue in this video. For him, he noticed that if he leaves one less round in the magazine the problem seems to not happen.

What I do to help ensure problems don't happen is when loading rounds into the magazine... I make sure to push them down and up several times with each new round placed into the magazine. Then when I'm done with loading the magazine, I'll smack the rear end of magazine against my palm to ensure the cartridges are slid the most to the back as they can be within the space of the magazine opening. This routine seems to work in terms of this making this issue go away for me.

I just wanted to make sure to share this info. So that if you do consider buying one... you know to check for this issue at the dealer, so you can give it back to them and cancel the transaction if you receive one where this problem hasn't been fixed.

I did buy it online a while back. You have to tell them who do you want to use as FFL and that’ all.

Right on. How much was it for the FFL transfer?

Do you have to contact the destination FFL before you perform the online order? In order to confirm it's Ok with them to use them as the receiving FFL? Or does that part not matter?

Or if you're in San Diego....You could go to Fine Firearms, and maybe pay slightly more for a rig that you actually touch before buying....Lifetime investment

ps....Please support your local gun stores, including Turner's....Rough times and the fewer places we have to buy from, the easier it'll be for 'rats to control us gun buyers and owners.

i wanted that particular one Steve and nobody had it.
I went to see John at FFA when I bought my .243. He didn't have it either but he ordered it for me. Couldn't touch it until It arrived though.

PS: John probably will be able to get it for the online price. He did when I bought the .243

Fabian,

Not trying to pinpoint you....Just trying to throw a thought out there....

ps....You available tomorrow?

Thanks for the info guys. I've been trying to get him to go down to fine firearms with me. That's where I found a used camo mossberg 500 Turkey / waterdowl shotgun. Looking for a hand gun so been needing to go see what they have down there.
