Well after 5 years of convincing my wife we have finally opened escrow on a house in Central Oregon (don't worry not in or near Portland). She has a lot of family here is So Cal so it was a hard sale.
I know it is not a 100% deal until escrow closes but we are leaving either way. Wife and i are lucky enough to keep our jobs and got our daughters into great private schools we can actually afford now...
Happy to move to a place where like minded people are a surplus instead of no where to be found. And be in a town that actually has a since of community.

Now to buy that lifetime CA hinting license and get the hell out of dodge!!!!

Yeah, unfortunately, they suffer the same fate as Nevada and Washington. One major city controls everything and imposes draconian laws on the rest of the state.

We moved to Fallbrook, CA, close to my wife's mother, who needs a lot of help. I loved the Big Island. Best hunting in the US, without a doubt. We also looked at Sisters. I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail just west of there [only about 5 miles] and got some really good high lake trout fishing. You'll love it there, I'm sure. Safe travels.

Welcome to the Beaver State. Moved here two years ago to be near kids and grandkids, who wanted something different and less expensive than So Cal. I’m west of you in the wine country. Sisters is a neat place. Up in the mountains, on the dry side of the Cascades. Very near Bend and a fun family play area called Sun City. You’re close to Detroit Lake, a great place for pontoon boating, water skiing, and trout fishing.

No way in hell Salem would ever let conservative counties secede, but I like the spirit of those trying. Like most lib states, the political map is all red except for where most people live - Portland, Salem, and Eugene.
