2025 Lanai,Hi Axis deer hunt was a success. Had a great hunt with my Dad and a couple friends. Hunted hard passed on a lot of does and small bucks the first day and the second day I did a big push looking for a decent buck did 10 hard miles. Left the truck at 5 am and walked and glasses all day swing only does and small bucks all day. So I started heading back towards the it was burning hot and sunny and all of a sudden it started to pour rain of course the one day I didn’t bring my rain jacket. It got muddy and slippery and I was totally soaked. I got about 500 yards from the truck I just had two small valleys to cross I was r hand soaking wet I took a break and sat under a tree. I was there for about 5 minutes just looking across the valley and all of a sudden from up valley I see two deer coming down valley one solid buck and a doe. I knew he was a good buck. I got set up and as soon as I got him in my scope he stopped and I let one go at 220 yards. Wind was blowing 25-30 mph from right to left I put my cross hair on his shoulder pulled the trigger and he dropped in his tracks. I called my dad at and told him I had one down and he decided to come and meet me. Crossed the valley and walked up to the deer and seen I hit him in the neck. My dad came over and met me only 300 yards from the truck. It’s crazy how it goes some times. But I was happy I got him close to the truck and not 5 miles away. Great hunt and memories with my dad
