Hey everyone, I've been doing some research online and haven't found anything so I thought I'd ask around on here... Does anyone have any experience with "carding" or "tethering" pheasant? I've carded pigeons and quail before (attached an 8"x8" piece of cardboard to their foot using a string)...
So I just purchased a pup from this litter and he'll be arriving next Friday. I need to come up with a registered name for him but I'm having a tough time. I know I'd like his call name to be "Hank" and I'd like to use a name or two from his ancestry but I'm having a hard time drilling something...
Ok, admittedly I should have a better understanding of the rules and regs before I hunt a new spot... that being said, I'VE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING! I hunted wister this morning with a buddy who got the #3 draw. I've never hunted there before but I figured it was just like any other area...
Hello once again everyone. A few months back I posted a topic asking about local trainers in the area as I wasn't sure I was dedicating enough time to my *cough cough* Chocolate *cough* Lab ;-). I ended up following the sage counsel of Aeon, as well as a couple other patrons, and purchased Fowl...
So I decided to do something a little outside the box this year for the company retreat... I chartered a fishing boat on a 3/4 day trip and it was incredible... Here's a few pics from the trip. The bite is on boys, I haven't seen it like this in years!
Well I posted this in the "Waterfowl" section a couple weeks ago and didn't get any replies, hopefully it will get a few here...

Hey guys... I'm trying to find a good duck club to join before the season this fall. I'm hoping for something a little closer than the Imperial Valley as I'm in Carlsbad but I'm definitely not opposed to making the drive if it's worth it and the price of membership is right. I've done Google...
Thanks for all of the feedback guys! A quick update... I went ahead and bought Fowl Dawgs 1 and 2 to compare to the Wolters method. There are a lot of similarities but what Fowl Dawgs has that Wolters doesn't is better organization. I like how the Fowl Dawgs dvd presents its step by step...
My granddad always had Brittany Spaniels and man were they great bird dogs! I was never involved with any of the training but when I hunted over them they were great. I'm sure it's a testament to his patience and diligence. I am doing more and more duck hunting plus I have a family now so the...
Aeon - For the record, I've got a 9 year old black lab too. I've never owned a chocolate and thought I'd give one a try. He's a handsome little man to boot.
Uplandfam - That's a bummer about the unexpected expenses but that's life.
Thanks Aeon, I bought the "Game Dog" DVD and have read 3/4 of the "Game Dog" book by Richard Wolters. Are you familiar with these? From what I've heard talking to people, the "Wolters Method" is the only way to go... What are your thoughts? Do you know how the Fowl Dogs method differs? Thanks...
