Since we’re strolling memory lane, I grew up in the OC, born in Santa Ana the county seat. I remember when Coto De Caza was a hunt club, Robinson Ranch was a dirt bike heaven called Escape Country, and the hills above Irvine Lake were called Saddleback Off-road Park. Times do change! Camping at Oniel Park felt like driving way out to the wilderness. Sneaking into those ponds off of Laguna Cyn Road and catching bass was a normal weekend. Everything’s pretty well buttoned up or developed now. Thank God for the CNF.
