    Have turkeys dispersed yet?

No turkeys on my cameras since their first pass thru...until I checked yesterday. There were a few pics after but this was the first pic I pulled up.

    Tent With Stove

Http://www.mrheater.com I’ve heard of many hunters using these propane heaters (they have shutoffs and alarms for low oxygen levels or high CO2, so they are rated for indoor use). But your concern of condensation would be correct with these heaters because there isn’t a flame.

    Have turkeys dispersed yet?

Turkeys are now popping up everywhere. This camera is 25 miles from my other one above (I only have two cameras). It was place in the field last July and yesterday was it’s first ever turkey picture. I believe there are three turkeys in this pic (two in the background).

    Have turkeys dispersed yet?

I’ve got a game cam pic of 15+ turkeys (mostly hens but at least one Tom). Pic is from yesterday. Seems like there should be fewer in a group at this point, but maybe they haven’t dispersed yet. Pics like this always get the spirits lifted just prior to the season. Not sure where these turkeys...

Helping a Lab mix rescue get adopted

I completely agree that their adoption fee is too high (it’s ridiculous). My wife and daughter have been volunteering on weekends with that organization for 5 years, and during that time the adoption fee has tripled. A few months ago they had a mixed breed hound (knee high with big ears, beagle...

Helping a Lab mix rescue get adopted

My wife and daughter volunteer with a pet rescue operation that brings rescued pets from Baja California to San Diego. I was at one of their adoption events yesterday and learned the story of this lab mix. I haven't posted any dogs in the past and I won't be posting others in the future, but I...

    Land Corner Crossing

I wouldn’t do it. I know of many corners (only marked by CNF and not by owners of the private) that could be cut to get to my spot. However, there is no need to avoid a few extra steps. If there is no other way to get to this public land, then let me know (walking on water is my favorite method...

    Christmas outdoors Gift ideas?

I was going to suggest a hand-crank emergency radio. Then I looked it up and found out they have advanced significantly since I got mine. I may be getting this for myself. Check it out

Cellular game cameras: good, evil, or ok?

Tactacam Reveal X is the world’s best (my opinion) cellular game camera. I’ve had one out since late July and it’s still showing 80% battery left (12 Duracell alcalines AA). They typically sell for $120 but with coupons/promo codes can be found for just under $100 My other camera is a...

Cellular game cameras: good, evil, or ok?

Before this deer season I bought 2 cellular game cameras. Both less than $100 with a monthly plan under $8/month. Now I’m looking back and wondering if cellular cameras are a good thing. I had a G13 tag, and from watching does last year I knew to be wary of fawns. That was helped by my cellular...

    Cowboy Camping, D16

It’s too late for this to be useful for this weekend, but I use a 2lb one person tent. It’s not a high end REI tent, but it keeps the weather out and doesn’t weigh me down. looks like this, but half pound lighter.

    Second Chance Buck

Jason can see bucks in the thick brush (let‘s call it peripheral buck vision) on par with the best. I was only 30 yards from the first buck but didn‘t see it until Jason pulled the trigger. The wind was a beast out there today. But the bucks are still rutting, so they were on the move.

G13 tags don’t last very long. Day 1 and done.

Sixteen days later, pictures of the spot I cleaned/butchered my doe. This may be an extreme example of nothing going to waste in nature. Absolutely nothing was left. Carcass dragged somewhere (probably up a tree), stomach and intestines taken/eaten, lower legs gone. Nothing left but the blood.

The changes I’ve noticed throughout the years in D16

Any chance of posting the story/pics from one of your family’s Tennessee deer hunts? Those white tails are huge and plentiful.

Opah, spill the beans on the details of your order: supplier, website or phone number. help the rest of us get permantly green lawns without having to shell out retail prices. im looking imto doing a 600 sq ft yard but it has a curved shape so that’s certainly going to cost me more

    Missouri Whitetail hunt.

What are the temperatures there? Coldest I’ve hunted is 15 degrees (F). Are you in an open stand or closed in? Where I used to hunt in South Carolina there were closed in stands. Had coffee and Bojangles breakfast in them many a time. Shot through a camo hanging sheet or in one there were...
