    Rogers toughman

The Rogers ended up being sold out so I went with froggtogg grand refuge. From what I hear they are the exact wader but with a froggtogg match on them. So far i really like them. I’m 6’1, 200Lbs average build and had to get the slim waders which are perfect. I’m a size 11 and bought size 11 and...

    Decoys

And for this, I’m assuming if you have wind from the west, you want to set up with decoys on the west so they finish coming into the decoys and over the water, instead of passing over the dike?

    Decoys

What about which side of the dike to setting up on and put the bulk of the decoys? Assuming there’s no blind already there. How do you determine which side you want the ducks to land? @ilovesprig

    Blind markers at wister

@TeamRoper quit your bitchn and stop acting like an entitled a-hole. You got lost in the dark. Does it suck? Yes. Did you learn something? Yes. Now you know where to go and where not to go. Maybe next time confirm with the staff when you pick. Andrew is an awesome dude. Also, just talked with...

    Decoys

My usual theory, and this goes for mostly December and early January, is to always have a bigger spread than the neighboring blinds, which is why I always bring out around 5-6dz floaters and a dz full bodies. But I’m thinking of maybe using 12 or less and spread them out. I’ve had big spreads...

    Decoys

How many decoys are you guys running out at the Wiz this time of year? I’ve got 5dz Ibring our and pending on the blind I usually start with 3-5dz and usually pull some in throughout the hunt. I’m wondering if usually <12 may be beneficial?

    Blind markers at wister

Based off OP’s multiple posts on this thread I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t all David’s fault. I’ll see him tomorrow I’ll ask

    Blind markers at wister

This is interesting. I spoke with David as well about the intermediate blind post being on the wrong side and while he wasn’t very knowledgeable about the situation, he said he would bring it up to the rest of the staff. No attitude or lip from him.

    Blind markers at wister

I hunted a blind further south on Wednesday that did not have the intermediate blind marker at the beginning of the dike. Come to find out, it was on the north side of the dike where there was no parking lot to enter from. Thought that was bad planning by staff. Luckily, I scouted before the...

    Keeping ducks in the field

Both were gaddys. Gut-shot on both. Smelled immediately once I split the feathers/fat back.

    Keeping ducks in the field

That’s what I’ve done the last 10 years hunting SoCal and haven’t had an issue. This was a first and I HATE to have had to toss me out. Have you guys heard of that butt plug gut puller or whatever it’s called? You stick it up the butt and pull the guts out..is it a gimmick or does that work?

    Keeping ducks in the field

I’ve always been under the assumption that ducks, amongst other game birds, keep well in the field for the majority of the day. Obviously the colder it is, the better. It I’ve shot ducks at first light at the Wiz and kept them in the field until 4pm and Had no issues with meat spoilage...

    Guided turkey hunts

Do you guys know of any reasonably priced guided or unguided private land hunts in California? I usually have good luck on public land up north for myself, however, I’d like to get my father on a turkey and make it a sure thing so I think guided/private land might be the way to go. I’ve seen...

    Wister condition

I didn’t get as in-depth as I wanted to during my trip out there. However, I saw some of the northern ponds were cleared out and huntable as were not the case last year. The S ponds looked really good..but they had 0 ducks on them. Us and Ts we’re the same but the areas worked on looked good...
