How to get rid of last years elk burger

Lungpopper - really impressive looking burgers. So have to ask the question...do they taste anywhere near as good as they look?

Last Weekend of the Quail Season

Nice to get out this morning for a couple of hours after the last storm. Birds were much less vocal than I expected. Managed to miss two and get two. Took a buddy out that hadn’t been all year and he had a blast. Was a gorgeous day out today in the backcountry. Lots of quail this season...

    ID Quail/Chukar Opener Report

Was back in Idaho for again for a little R&R, hiking, trout fishing, upland, etc. Went to an upland spot outside Boise with a friend that lives there. Hit a nice public land spot with a natural spring early. Loads of quail and chukar tracks but couldn’t seem to find them without a dog during...

    Bird shot

I use 7s in fast steel for morning and white wing. For all other upland, I’ve had good success with Hevi-shot products. Dad and I along with friends found we were getting too many crippled quail with straight steel. Hevi fixed that and results seem close to lead.

Great outing by you and your buddy. Takes a lot of effort and scouting to get those results. Thanks for the post.

    Eating good on quarantine

Looks super tasty SurfNHunt! Like many here on the boards, the wife and I are enjoying a lot of good free range organic wild game and fish prepared at home these days.

    Deer Ticks on Dogs

Nice looking dog and good you are proactive. I’ve used spine topical stuff (Frontline) and shampoo treatments with great success and only during hunt/training seasons when in the field. Have been leery of overmedicating that might cause other issues so Have tried to back off stuff when possible...

    How was everyone's season?

Stevehazard - nice post. Best season in several years for sure. The two freezers are full and will take a couple of more months to get through some more tasty meals.

    What’s in your freezer?

Just noticed the “high on kennels” from your post. Your wife is a wonderful women and trainer. We left our best friend and hunting dog with her 13 years ago up at the Mesa Grande property. She trained our pup (and me) well. Was saddened to hear of her health. God bless.

    What’s in your freezer?

Mostly trapped the prawns just north of San Juan Island and some near Lopez Island (Washington state). The tips that the locals passed along were invaluable. Can't say enough about the outdoor courtesy of the Northwest folks and the Canadians. We had our boat in Canada for a while and the San...

    What’s in your freezer?

With the hunt season winding down, thought it would be interesting to see what wild game (harvested by YOU, not purchased or given to) others have in their freezer. Below is in our 2 freezers currently and the spot prawns definitely in our top 3 as a favorite. Quail, dove, pheasant, duck...

    Epic Valley Quail Hunt!

great report and what a nice outing! late season is the best time of year when the temps drop. Your dogs look quite proud.

    Lake Henshaw Hunting Tips

Follow what “bohdi” provided. I stopped by Thursday mid day after quail hunting with my spotting scope and binos and saw a ton of ducks (several varieties). But it was sunny with no wind. Would have been a frustrating day there. Good luck.

    Tough day

Great shooting Utahduckhanter and a nice couple of male VQ. Those grey ghosts are like small rockets. The ground cover doesn’t look like southern California so assuming that is in Utah? If so, how are the quail populations there? And if you don’t mind, what general part of the state are you...
