Not going to make it to Vermont to hunt next fall, so I might try a small local trip. I have an offer from a local over there in AZ to go with him for Coues down in 34 A or B, I think. Whatever is near the border in the Sonoita/Nogales/Huachuca area.

Wouldn't be able to take too much time off, but since it's only 7 hours or so, I figure I could zip over and hunt 2 1/2 days. Would you guys/gals do it, if you were with a local with some area knowledge? Quick over and back weekend?

I'd do it in a heartbeat if you have access to local knowledge, Coues deer are one of the toughest deer to get close to, they are extremely high strung, I met a guide in Az a few years ago who swears they never sleep. Be ready for cross canyon shots at long distances.

I'm just curious what makes that a difficult decision for you? I'd go for it if you have the contact.

Sounds like it's close to a guided hunt without the cost. It's always fun to hunt new places and with somebody showing you what's up it's a winner. GO FOR IT

It is unanimous Vermonster. You are going coues deer hunting!

Good luck and make sure you touch base with Oneazbowhunter.

Here is a coues from that area
