Had a last minute opportunity to join a private party charter last few days.
Out Thursday eve, back Sunday morn.
Scratchy on Friday, but Saturday made up for it.
Object was to fill the boat with meat, so no trophies, but fun trip nonetheless.
130 YFT, 3 BFT, 1 YT
I landed 3 on the deck, lost at least 6 for various reasons.
Wife and I had a nice dinner Sunday night.

Gotta love bloody decks.

I chartered a private 4 pack last Wednesday we got skunked. Very very expensive boat ride for me. My clients made the best of with a handle of Tito’s. If I never hear the expression “that’s why they call it fishing” again I would be good with that.

The San Diego did a one day the same day and boated 200 YFT. It’s rough out there right now but some guys are doing better than others. The fish still are not up here yet the water is still dirty. Definitely or like it has been the last few seasons.

Good luck guys, they are out there that is for sure, but scratchy. If you come across the right school you can limit out though.
Lots of boat traffic. Some areas (outside Clemente Island, I believe) they are plucking monster BFT via balloon/kite set-ups.
let's see them BD's.

The day started out real slow on the Thunderbird. Not a single bite until just after noon, we had several schools of YFT dive as soon as the boat got close. THEN, Jeff the skipper screamed over the PA , get lines in the water now and it was wide ass open for 1.5 hrs. final total was 128, all between 12-30 lbs. Prolly lost 25+. I really don't like to go on boats with more than 25 guys but, I decided, what the hell, there were 36 of us and surprisingly there were not to many tangles but, I would say a lot of the fish that were lost was because of the mass confusion when there was multiple guys hooked up at the same time, which was most of the time once it took off. I'll post a few photos later. Right now I have tuna to tend to. Oh, I went 7 for 9.
