2 Birds for the Season

My kid said he wanted to give it a try so we went out on the opener and called in a stampede of Jakes. This guy gave him a clean shot so he rolled him at about 20 yards. Heavy Jake with about a 4" beard. Very fun to watch him kill his first bird. I called in 2 nice Toms on week 4 and killed the lead bird at about 30 yards. 22 lbs and just shy of 11". Fun season, Gotta love the spring time.

Right on Doug and congrats to your son.....Always exciting watching someone bag that 1st gobbler.

Hopefully, with so many jakes this past season, this magnificent game bird will be on the road to recovery here in San Diego Co.
