Afternoon hunt

That is some thick dove weed! Perhaps others have had different experiences, but in scouting around San Jacinto the past couple of weeks I was really surprised how few doves were using the cut grain fields, opting instead for the dove weed. I wonder if it is grain choice, the timing of the cut, or if they just prefer the seed of dove weed when it's available.

That dove weed is hard on the dog, turned my red dog brown; like pouring molasses on him. And the worst part...the doves were not interested so made for a slow day.
