Got the call for an opportunity I couldn't pass up: a depredation-area hunt in Alaska with Barnes, tag allotment of two browns and three blacks. Jet boat in, hunting over bait.
Let me be straight — I am NOT built for sitting a blind for 12 hours. That's just not my game. But bottom line? Bears got killed. The 45-70 ate, plain and simple. That gun did exactly what a 45-70 is supposed to do.
Only sore spot: my camera guy screwed me on a 9'+ boar. Nor really his fault but its fun to blame somoene — still stings. But I'll be honest, all the browns up there right now are rubbed out and ugly anyway, so I'm not losing sleep over it. I think I'm gonna go back for a good boar next October when I'm up there chasing goats.
Alaska is the promised land. No two ways about it. And I'm not done — headed back up next month for Sitka blacktails.
Now the good part. We're dropping this film in October, and when we do, we're giving away the twin of my rifle:

- Marlin 45/70
- Ranger Point Precision furniture
- Barnes 400gr bullets
- Vortex scope
- Dead Air suppressor
- oh and of course a Tricer HK kit and Bipod
