Sorry to hear that man. Yeah... for now... I'm still able to dope up like mad and limp back out. My knees I think will last a bit longer, this one hip socket that got a trauma back in '97... not so sure about that one though. But generally speaking, you're never the same after a surgery... so I wanna wait until absolutely necessary. Good luck with that.

Thanks Larry. I tore my meniscus back in April and have slogged along since while waiting for the insurance process to work its way out. Had my meniscus on my other knee done about 6 years ago and it's been great since. I've done surprisingly well this year despite the meniscus, but I feel like the deer have gone waaaaaaaay deep now.

Surgery is next Wednesday so this weekend will be my last of the season. Gotta make it happen!

I think you left out...Really good duck hunting (most duck clubs are over $1,500.00), quail hunting, varmint hunting, dove shooting, rabbit hunting, fishing at Lake Henshaw, discounted camping, and WORLD CLASS ground squirrel shooting....Oh, and all this is less than an hour from home....Thank you very much....

Honestly the biggest thing I miss is the squirrels. I was just saying the other day that alone would be worth getting back in. The boys are st an age where they would crush them all day.
I hunt out of state to much to make MCC worth it anymore.

Okay I can totally see it being a blast with kids. When my two boys get older I’d hate to see them lose interest in the outdoors because of sub-par public land hunting. Plus I don’t wanna lose one of my kids in the salton sea mud....

Shit just 1 turkey and a three point buck is enough. Going out of state for 1 buck can cost you that much. IMO

I wish duck clubs were $1,500... aren't some of the big name clubs like Los Banos like $30K and up? Dunno how those guys spend on that.

$1,500.00 is on the low side for a single membership to a SoCal duck club...WU gets I think $1,800.00 plus other entrance fees.

I personally have only taken 2 that made the T & O book (Terminex & Orkin)...2" is the minimum (width of skull)...I have one 2 1/2" and one slightly over 3"...Dang proud of this feat.

Thanks man! Unfortunately, this weekend was a repeat of the previous ones. Went to a new spot based on a tip. Saw some fresh sign but apparently a few other fellers got the same tip I did because there were other hunters in the same spot. Looks like tag soup for me this year but I'm okay with that since I've learned a lot and built a base of knowledge to expand on next year.

Who knows, maybe I can find a spot next weekend that I can use my crutches to get out and hunt!
