Another rattler

I shoot......seen too many dogs get bite not to put them down.......unless it's near a tree hugger then I encourage them to pick it up.......it's only a little sting

The possession limit for rattlers is two. The red westerns are now a protected species and consequently are no take.

Here's want I think is a Red Diamond Rattlesnake........It could be a Speckled, but I don't think so.......He was small and very red. Hard to see in the dead oak leaves.

yes thats why it's important to get dogs trained to avoid rattlesnakes, & for us to wear the right protection. because it's easy to get distracted or don't plain see em. holy shit. the old saying if it was a rattle snake it would have bit me. hahahaha damn things do scare the hell out of me.
because most of the you don't see them till it's too late. ugg.

Sprig- that's a western for sure not a speckled (black and white stripes on tail) usually the reds are a burnt orange color that one doesn't look red in the pic but that may be the camera or something. BTW we do aversion training for dogs so if anyone needs their dog trained let me know.

The camera doesn't do it justice........And It was very red and have thought all along the it was a RDR. Pretty much don't think it's a Western Diamondback.......Although, they apparently come in red.

don't forget about the green mojave , I was inform a few years ago there is not an antidote for this snake bite. and it's migrating into San Diego areas.

The venom of rattlesnakes contain about twenty five different toxins. all rattlers have hemo and neuro toxins the Mojave is particularly deadly because they're venom is predominantly a neuro toxin which affects the nervous system. In order to survive a Mojave bite the victim must be treated very quickly before the nervous system shuts down and the victim stops breathing.The Mojave inhabits the high desert in Ca and is not indigenous to SD county. Many people mistake other rattlesnakes for the Mojave because the color of rattlesnakes can vary greatly depending on where they are found. Unless someone has brought them here there are no Mojave's in this part of the world.

well the information I received was here say from a woman ranger at Palomar. she said there were snake now found in mission trails and some outer skirts of north county. but far as first hand data I do not have. she also the one that said there is no anti venom antidote. so are you sure?

Doesn't the MG strike sideways? That's what I was told and did see one that did this and looked like a MG. This was north camp Pendleton.

I'll take SC's word over any parky any day.......And he's absolutely right about MG's NOT being in SD Co.

I killed a very green rattler in Ranch Bernardo while dove hunting one time. 1st thing the others guys said is they thought it was a MG........Not........Turned out to be a WDR.

The newest thing is the Southern Pacific's, which are quite aggressive, are now working on hemo and neuro toxins. A friend got hit up in Ramona Estates a couple years back.......He was lucky to make it. Only being life flighted to Palomar saved him.

One things for sure, they come in all colors.
