Arizona or Nevada?

I’m a lifelong SoCal native, but as many of you could understand, I’m tired of this socialist state.

I plan on moving, and I’ve been looking closely at Arizona, but what’s the local opinion on Nevada, from a hunting point of view?

I want to keep relatively close due to family and San Diego fishing, otherwise I’d have moved to Montana or Idaho a long time ago.

Cool, I was stuck with factories, uggg
I tried to work in salt lake Utah, but it fell through. Uggggg
Customer there likes to hunt...

Salt Lake is a nice area, and lots of hunting opportunities close by. My fathers friend who taught me how to hunt and fish moved out there in the early 90’s and is still there today. He loves it there. Me however, I love offshore fishing, so I’d like to be within a half days drive from the ocean as I plan on keeping my boat.

SHHHH!! Thats our secret stevo!! Dang!

Don’t worry Hatchet, I’m no where good enough of a hunter to threaten the population of any species.

Friend from No. San Diego county just moved to Payson, AZ. Absolutely love it. About forty mins. From lake Roosevelt. Great fishing, quail hunt, stink pigs. Great People and no BS Ca. Politics. They were life long Cal. residents. Every time I talk to them they sound like different people. Since they moved they have seen several Elk on their scouting/reconnoitering trips. They went over to the lake with new friends and caught two nice flathead catfish. I'm certain NV. has just as nice areas. I'm just putting out info. for you to digest.

A friend of mine I used to work with moved to Payson about four years ago. I’ve talked to him on the phone a few times, and even stopped by for half a day while taking my son to school in Oklahoma. He and his wife absolutely love it there, and I could definitely see why. He regularly has elk on or near his property too.

If I go for Arizona, Payson is in my top five, and strongly first or second.

im in the same boat. but looking up north to WASH or ORE. different coast but by the sea.

I love that area of the country, but the fishing sucks anymore. Those guys get regulated so bad, it’s sad. I think halibut season is down to hours, not days. Salmon is getting there, and a lot of areas are closed off to fishing. The plus side... they have chickens (albacore)!

Also, they don’t welcome us Cali guys there. Yeah, that’s common in a lot of states, but the PNW guys hate us the most.

I was close in buying 40 acres in New Mexico. I probably couldn't touch it now. High country very rual.

I really like New Mexico too, and I like the idea of having a nice spread for vacation/hunting, especially in the northern part of the state. It’s absolutely beautiful country out there. Unfortunately it’s just a bit further than I want to go.

I have 40 acres in Lincoln County and I enjoy the seclusion and views but its not bird country which is my main pursuit. I have seen a Bull elk, deer and antelope on my land but I have not made my big game hunting move there yet. I wish I had bought in AZ or Nevada but in Bird country !
