Did not intend to shoot anything and only wanted to look for turkeys today but decided to bring some slugs just in case. Still in the waiting period for my rifle and the barrel of the Benelli is being cerakoted so I took an old 870 and it did the trick.
Spotted him sleeping next to a skinny tree (thats the blurry pic). Pretty much walked right up to him as he slept and got about 25 yards away. I went to get my phone from my pocket to take a photo when he started to shake his head like he was about to get up. I squatted down and waited for him to pop up but he went back to sleep so I threw a rock next to him to get him up, he didnt budge so I went to throw another but he popped up as I was reaching down. I was super shocked at how big he was when he stood up but luckily got a shot off and he didnt go too far.
The copper slugs I got didnt do a great job at mushrooming and got stopped at the opposite shoulder.
Shot him at 9AM and didnt leave the area till around 4PM because I had to make a couple trips
