So friend sent me this message yesterday.

This takes affect on all city lakes. This also includes hunting. As of right now all the turkey hunts at Lake Sutherland have been cancelled at least until April 3. Still waiting for some final info, but this just sucks.
Will keep everyone posted if the lake opens back up and we can get some hunts in.
Stay safe. GOD BLESS

Thankfully the ocean is open, but too bad the weather sucks

I wonder if this is going to effect my Sutherland turkey hunt on apr 11. I know the first group is suppose to start when season starts.....

Robert,

As of right now, the hunts are canceled till April 3rd...If I was a betting man, I'd say they're going to cancel the entire season at Sutherland.

So they canned (postponed for now) the Jr hunts because of the virus, not the rain?
Can somebody please explain how staying home around more people instead of outside in the open air is supposed to reduce the spread of this virus? Going to the store is allowed where we all have to touch the same goddamn card reader keypad but can't sit alone or a tiny group to shoot a turkey or fish? I pretty sure it's easy to space our turkey chairs slightly farther.

And if they close NF and BLM I'm not complying.

once they close.....guessing they will not reopen as fast. excuses will be things like funding cuts and so on. blame it all on the china virus

Steve,

The youth hunt was postponed because of the weather...I agreed to the assessment, we did on Monday.

Where I don't agree is the San Diego City lakes closing down...I totally agree with you...What could be much safer?

Chris,

No....It's not transmitted by water, as you're aware...I think it's one of two things...They're trying to protect their employees or it's just an opportunity to close the lake to recreational activities...Remember, they've eliminated days of fishing for budget cuts recently...Hell, there's lakes that could be fished, and they don't allow it...

Has anyone heard if Sutherland will open for any of the remaining youth turkey hunts?
