I like this forum, it keeps me in touch with D16/19 and what’s going on out there while living 1,000 miles away in Colorado. I’ve noticed though there’s not enough hunting lately and to much politics so here’s some pictures of what Colorado has to offer.
I figure I’ll keep updating this thread as the season progresses.
First up was dove, I did pretty good on the couple trips out I took
They moved out with the first cool front so I went and chased Sage Grouse. The season is only 2 days, 2 birds per day, 4 in possession but I chose to just shoot one a day and give my buddies more opportunities at them
After that I went after Ptarmigan, we got into them just under 13,000 ft
Did some Tenkara fishing with flies I tied with sage grouse feathers, I hooked a couple but they spit the hook.
A few days later we went to look for sheep, I have a Bighorn Ewe tag to fill.
We were headed through this notch
Where we sat was 12,313 ft
My 9 yr old daughter was trying to out glass me
Sheep country is pretty desolate when they’re not in the area and today was no exception. I told my kid we’re leaving to go look elsewhere and she said “what’s that?”
Sheep coming over a 13,300 ridge 1/2 a mile away
They headed our way but stayed up high and went over onto private mining land so we headed back to the truck and spotted a group of 4 ewes with 4 lambs but I’d promised my kid fried spam and rice so that took precedence, I’m not to keen on shooting a Ewe with a lamb anyways even though there’s no law against it.
Total of 25 sheep seen but no tag notched, I’m headed back up tomorrow for the weekend so hopefully I’ll have more pics to post up after I get back.
