Looking for "the" Crow Call

I am not sure about electronic Cuz I haven't really seen one work for crows.
I am probably dead wrong

I have a couple that just sounds like party favors...thats what my hunting buddy said....

Anywho, any suggestion for this hunting apparatus would be greatly appreciated

I will be using the crow call for turkey hunting mostly

Thanks in advanced

John
:)

when using a crow call for Turkeys just blowing it hard and loud it will get any Turkey with in hearing distance to make a call. If you have ever been by a turkey farm and made any loud noise it will make them call back

Crow calls work fine, but like most areas crows are one of the 1st birds to awaken....Gobblers will gobble to this. The one thing that I've found though is crow calls are a low volume call over long distances and gobblers are very used to hearing them......I prefer a peacock call or coyote yelper......If you waterfowl hunt. Any decent speck call can be made to sound like a peacock as well......The LOUD screeching sound is what gets them......Owl hoots work too, but I normally only use them when I'm in close proximity of a roost tree and trying to pinpoint where the gobblers are roosted.

As far as calling crows, try to think loud, excited, and wounded......Crows will dive bomb their own kind. They also love to attack owls & hawks......I'll see if I can't do a little demo on my camera.....This was with an old wood Lohman crow call......The new MAD crow call (Wal-Mart) is louder and much sharper.

I have 4 different kinds all in the 12 to 20 $ range, and the demo you provided sounds just like 2 of the 4 I own...
Peacock call! Just the twist I was looking for.
Pinpointing the birds have been my problem. The place I hunt is popular for shock and stalk. Late in the season they are so used to certain sounds..

Hey Ilovesprig
I really appreciate all the work you put in this forum. Newbies like me really appreciate all the little tips and tricks. Not blowing sunshine up your a...
In all sincerity

Thank you

Steve, you've earned your t shirt. ;)

Steve, is there a peacock call you'd recommend? I heard that one at the tuneup and forgot to ask about it. I've been using a Faulks crow call the past couple years with limited success. Just thinking about trying something new. Thanks

I use an old speck call and Fearnot Game Call ((fav)........Primos makes one as does Woods Wise.

They all work and pretty cheap at under 15 bucks.

.

Funny you posted this vid. I just finished watching it since I too was looking for a peacock call based on your recommendation at the tune up. Although I did not get a chance to meet you ( cause of the crowd!), it was a lot of good info and very educational.

I've seen an elk bulge, but never heard one. What does it sound like?
;D

Where I hunt wood peckers are EVERYWHERE and Jays...its hilarious to watch what goes on during the day watching those crazy ass birds. Great stuff

I knew what you meant Juan................ :D

I bet could probably do a pretty "bugle" with a peacock call.......... ;)

So what about the electronic calls for turkeys? Has anybody tried it? I know my buddy uses one for yotes but I never see anything regarding digital calls and turkeys

For example there are some really good turkey calls online. Has any one ever bluetoothed some calls to a hidden speaker?

Aren't e-calls only legal for predators?

Water fowl Nothing about turkeys that I could find. Then again there is some many Geese these days they are getting ready to allow you to use electronic devices for Geese...

Using e-callers is legal to call snow geese in a number of states that have the spring hunts......I can also use them to call snows in Canada now in the spring......Also, crows can be taken with e-callers.

It is illegal to use e-callers for turkeys......
