How helpful is a dedicated turkey gun in your opinion? I have a "do it all" autoloader that I toss a turkey choke in + heavi shot then let it rip. I have missed a couple of birds though and like to ambush hunt them (stupid I know lol but that's what I like). So, I have been considering a dedicated turkey gun with a scope and getting my hands on TSS #9. Any real-world experience out there with how much that would increase range and accuracy?

I also use my “go to” 12ga for almost everything. Have you patterned your shotgun with the turkey load. I would recommend

One gun can do it all, as long as your choke and shells are dedicated to turkeys...I have an original Benelli SBE that I use for just turkeys...Primos Jellyhead choke and either 3 1/2" Hevi-Shot Blend or 3" Federal TSS 7's or 9's...Of course, I don't ambush hunt...So, hunting over decoys or calling them normally makes my shots inside 50 yds.

ps...The NWTF Spring Turkey Tune-Up would be a good place to pattern your gun.

Awesome and great bird! I'll bring the gun and pattern it.

How does the TSS pattern compared to the Heavi @ 50?

When I patterned #9 TSS out of the .410 for my daughter it made the steel and lead loads I compared it to look like a joke. The TSS passed though the wood I had supporting my pattern board no problem where neither larger steel or lead would at the same range.
